Sonal Sancheti studied architecture at CEPT in Ahmedabad and her Master’s Program at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles and has done intensive undergraduate research on the Traditional Japanese Architecture. After working with world famous architect, Fumihiko Maki in Tokyo.
She has recently co-authored a book “Scripting Destiny”. She has been invited as a speaker to various architectural institutions and has been a part of various panel discussions throughout the country. With her ongoing practice she is a visiting design faculty at Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture in Mumbai.
Opolis is a multi-disciplinary design practice based in Mumbai, founded in 2001 by Sonal Sancheti and Rahul Gore. The design philosophy is that the most complex and beautiful solutions are often the simplest. Opolis is currently engaged with the Bihar Museum along with Maki and Associates, Tokyo and the Mumbai Museum Extension along with Steven Holl Architects, New York. It has won several national and international awards in the past years and is published widely.
