Ryuichi Ashizawa was born in Yokohama, Japan and graduated from Waseda University. Ryuichi Ashizawa built a strong architecture foundation by working for more than 6 years with Tadao Ando.

Currently he is the principal architect at Ryuichi Ashizawa Architect & Associates, as well as the Dean of Architecture at the University of Shiga, Japan.

Ryuichi Ashizawa Architect & Associates was founded in 2001 by Ryuichi Ashizawa and has been continuously evolving since its inception with a diverse portfolio of local and international projects that range from Residential, Commercial, Hospitality, Religious, Mixed-use and Factory projects with a strong emphasis on reconciling architecture with the environment.
